2017 Neume, 13`, for flute and violin

Neume for flute and violin is a fantasy on the photograph Earthrise, taken by Buzz Aldrin during his lunar mission, and until an early point of its realisazion was meant to be titled after the photograph since it is mostly composed with metaphors for concepts found therein, The german title Neume became the better option during the realisation of the piece as a flow of certain inflective marks segmented from a generative sequence, applied to various parameters, has acquired substantial place in the discourse of the composition and has drawn my interest in the idea of neuma, which came to signify a fundamental element in the music of the Catholic Church whereas nagme, the turkish derivative of the greek root, came to signify the non-european fingerprint of the musics of Anatolia, as a fertile area where strong connections between diverse cultures can be made.
